Mary obtained a Master’s Degree in Counselor Education with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Virginia Tech in 2016. Mary has been working with children, adolescents and adults in the mental health field for five years. She has worked with clients in a variety of modalities including outpatient therapy, community based services, public schools and residential treatment. She has frequently worked with clients struggling with ADHD, PTSD, attachment issues, grief, depressive and anxiety disorders as well as many other concerns. Mary uses an eclectic theoretical orientation, combining Person Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, as well as integrating holistic components to include family systems, physical wellness and psycho-education, intending to be mindful of all of a client’s unique needs. Mary believes that every client is unique with their own individual pasts, needs and strengths. Mary works with her clients to create meaning from past and current life experiences, and guide them in using their unique strengths to feel empowered to make change in their lives.
